Israel attorney general won't back funding limits

(AP) ? Israel's attorney general has informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that bills proposing restrictions on funding for dovish groups are unconstitutional.

Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein says if parliament approves the bills, he won't defend them in court.

On Wednesday, The Associated Press obtained a copy of the letter Weinstein wrote to Netanyahu over the weekend stating his position.

Weinstein writes that the attorney general normally refrains from declaring laws unconstitutional, but said that he would make an exception because of the "blatancy" of the case.
