U.S. Trade Ambassador and former Dallas mayor Ron Kirk brought a message from Barack Obama to Texas Democrats: keep fighting.
And then he added some of his own colorful language to underscore it.
Obama visits Texas and sends other in his administration because he believes in their fight, Kirk said.
?A lot of people say why do we even bother go, it?s a red state,? Kirk said. ?I tell them it?s coming.?
He cited an old saying of the late U.S. Sen. Ralph Yarborough in telling Texas delegates that the change in Republican domination will change.
?Remember the sun don?t shine on the same dog?s ass every day,? he said.
Kirk had praise for Bill Clinton?s speech, saying he was speaking to America in a way only the former president can.
?It feels like it just blew all the clouds of BS that came out of Tampa out of the way and presented a clear, compelling case to why this president has done exactly what we asked him to do,? Kirk said.
He said Obama put ?the brakes on a car that was careening out of control, over a cliff? and got the nation turned around.
?None of us is satisfied with the pace of this direction. But we know we are going in the right direction or Republicans wouldn?t want to shove us over and get back in the driver?s seat,? Kirk said.
He said the convention hall, asked if the nation is better off than four years ago, answered with a resounding, ?Hell yes we are.?
?None of us believes this is good enough. We didn?t work this hard just to just be afloat,? Kirk said.
With jobs, the economy and the prospect of a Democratic Texas, ?Keep the faith,? he said.
