Join Us in Welcoming a New Staff Member! | Core Wellness ...

Elissa?s approach to helping her patients achieve their goals and regain function consists of an eclectic blend of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and functional retraining techniques?an approach she developed during her 20 years of practice.

Her extensive experience includes treating patients with orthopedic and neurologic conditions and sports- and work-related injuries. She has a Level I certification in the Le Duc method for Manual Lymphatic Drainage and has also treated postoperative breast cancer patients and patients with lymphedema.

As a former clinic director of several physical therapy clinics for a regionally based hospital network, Elissa worked alongside physiatrists, osteopaths, psychologists, and acupuncturists. She is a Core Dynamics Pilates-trained Pilates instructor and uses Pilates principles to introduce whole-body movements in the rehabilitation of her patients.

A lifelong interest in athletics and fitness motivated Elissa to pursue a career in physical therapy and ultimately led her to complete a Fellowship in Sports Medicine from the American Sports Medicine Institute. Elissa graduated in 1988 from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science with a B.S. degree in Health Science and a Master?s degree in Physical Therapy. She is a NATA-certified athletic trainer and has been involved with the George Washington University athletic training program as a guest lecturer and clinical instructor since 1989.

Elissa is a former Army Captain having served at the Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl Germany during the first Gulf War. She enjoys being active. Her favorite activities include Pilates, yoga, hiking, and rowing.

Come by and say ?Hi!? or introduce yourself the next time you?re in the office. We?re so glad to have her joining our team!
