Evizone delivers a unique take on business comms security | Apple ...

Evizone keeps confidential correspondence confidential

At a time when businesses are exchanging more and more information online, with a corresponding risk of data theft from cyber hackers, Internet security is more critical than it has ever been. Evizone has developed a unique approach enabling the secure exchange of files, view-only copy protected messages and documents so that businesses can be confident that their vital corporate information remains only in the hands of its intended audience. MacNN recently had the opportunity to put some questions to Evizone CEO Andrew Coutts about what sets Evizone apart from the crowd and why businesses that value corporate security should consider it instead of email and other file sharing services.

Coutts is one of four industry veterans at Evizone, who have a combined total of 75 years experience in the software and IT industry in a company with 24 staff. At the heart of its service is some key patent-pending technologies including an anti-screen capture technology that goes well beyond simple disable print functions. Users at both ends of the system require its Software as a Service to be installed on either their Mac or PC with Evizone?s servers doing the heavy lifting in the background.

Critically, Evizone owns and controls its own servers and provides two layers of encryption ? SSL and PKI. The use of PKI also prevents Evizone employees from being able to read any correspondence sent through its servers, while each user also has their own private key. ?Evizone provides for the exchange of files and view-only copy protected messages and documents,? said Coutts. ?There are other services providing one of these, these are much fewer services providing two of these and if you find a service which does all three, let me know,? he added.

Coutts also believes that Evizone helps ensure that the most confidential correspondence of a company using its services stays at least one step further away from typical cyber attacks. ?Evizone has the strongest copy and print protection available. We prevent print screen, screen clipping/capture, web conferencing, and remote logins [among other possibilities] being used to bypass copy protection,? said Coutts. ?Evizone leaves no files in the conventional email system or on user?s computers. No files means there is nothing to hack,? he argues.

Capping off the Evizone?s services are additional patent-pending and proprietary technologies that make perfect sense in the business world. As its system is not based around a traditional email client, it organizes files differently and also offers flexible user permissions. Using Evizone, correspondence and document exchanges revolve around ?Topics? with a policy-based life that is automatically enforced. But Evizone?s system takes things a step further.

?Evizone also provides users with complete access control and access history. So, even within a workgroup I could choose which access different users have. As well, I can withdraw and modify access at any time,? said Coutts. ?This is a really good capability to have in a secure communications system; however, it?s non-existent in conventional email where the sender loses control the minute they hit send.?
