More than one million of Mark Zuckerberg's closest friends and subscribers "like" his marriage to long-time girlfriend Priscilla Chan, posted with a photo on Saturday under the Life Events part of his Facebook profile. That's quite a bit more than the just over-500 "likes" attributed to his activity on Friday?? listing Facebook on NASDAQ.?And it's no wonder.
Unless you're a Facebook employee, an extraordinarily well-connected stockbroker or an enormous institutional investor (say, a pension fund), you didn't stand to earn much of anything monetarily from Facebook's IPO. Meanwhile, the social network's nearly one billion users (those saps!) stand to earn at least an?emotional dividend from Mark and Priscilla's wedding photo.
Yet the less-than-romantic timing of the nuptials?isn't going unnoticed by the unsentimental.?Last Friday, Zuckerberg had a net worth of over $19 billion. (Today, with the stock dipping, it's closer to $17 million.) The super rich rarely get married without a prenup, which would specify exactly how the couple would split their assets should they divorce. Had Zuckerberg and Chan continued down the unmarried route ? or forgone a prenup entirely ? she could be entitled to 50 percent of his wealth under California law.?
Romance FTW!
